Respect . . . dignity . . . creativity . . . empowerment . . .
These are the kinds of things that are effectively stripped from participants in the Family Court system. By contrast, one of the goals of collaborative practice is to preserve these very fundamental values. In my practice, I have found that almost always the best resolutions are created when the participants themselves are given the support and guidance to structure their own futures. The commitment of all members of a collaborative team is to create a negotiating environment where this can occur.
I have worked in family law since 1989, and as part of the collaborative practice movement since 2003.
